Trading
Stance: The trading stance is based on the medium term
outlook for the stock market. This can be as short as one
month or as long as six months. A bullish stance favors long positions,
while a bearish stance favors short positions or inverse ETFs.
A neutral stance suggest uncertainty that may warrant hedged
positions. Example: With a bullish trading stance, I would
look for pullbacks to support and bullish patterns that offer
a good risk:reward ratio. These may include falling flags,
wedges, triangle consolidations or retracements.
Trading
Stance Rational: This paragraph summarizes the reason for
being bullish, bearish or neutral on the stock market. Reasons include trend,
chart structure, overbought/oversold conditions, sentiment,
breadth, inter-market relationships and even some
fundamentals.
Technical
Highlights: This section covers the important technical
developments throughout the market. Sector breakouts or break
downs, breadth surges, volume expansions, interest rates moves
and more.
QQQQ,
SPY and IWM: Daily charts are used to analyze the medium term
trend. Sixty minute charts are used to focus on
short-term trading opportunities that are in harmony with the
larger trend. These charts are used to identify the trend,
establish targets, forecast reversal zones and set new
support/resistance levels.
Inter-Market
Charts: The Daily Swing finishes with a review of the key
inter-market charts: U.S. Dollar Index ($USD), streetTRACKS Gold ETF (GLD), United States Oil Fund ETF (USO) and iShares 20+ Year Bond ETF
(TLT). Individual technical analysis is provided as well as thoughts
on positive and negative correlations.
Breadth Charts:
The end of the commentary page contains breadth charts for
QQQQ, SPY and IWM. These charts show AD Net%, the AD Line, AD Volume Net%, the AD Volume Line and Net New Highs.
Stock
Setups: Based on stock scans and chart scrolling, 10 or
more stock setups are presented in the videos on Tuesday and
Thursday. These
setups include stocks that have recently broken out (up or
down) as well as those that look poised for a
break.
